The digimon in the digiworld are all running away from the black rings that the Digimon Emperor are sending out. One of the rings goes after Gatomon but just as it touches her, the ring on her tail glows and blocks the ring. Unimon then comes and attacks Gotamon

T.K. has moved to a new apartment and is starting in a new school. He meets Yolei and Cody at the elevator. They walk to school together and when they get to the playground, T.K. sees someone that resembles Tai and finds out his name is Davis. Later T.K. finds out that he is in Kari and Davis' class. Davis gets mad because he thinks T.K. is hitting on Kari.

Meanwhile Agumon is being attacked and sends a SOS to Tai. Tai goes to the digiworld and tries to help Agumon digivolve but for some reason he can't. He meets up with Gatomon and Patamon and they go into a cave to hide. He sends a message to the other digidestined but Yolei go the message while she was in the computer room. She recognizes the the last name and runs to Kari and gives her the message. They run to the computer room. On the way there they meet Izzy and he also go the message. They go to the computer room and Yolei wants to go to the digiworld.

Meanwhile, Tai and the digimon are in a cave when they come across an egg with a spike in it. Tai tries to pick it up and three beams of light come out and go out through the top of the cave.

Back at the real world the beams of light comes out and digivices appear in Davis, Yolei and Cody's hands. T.K. , Kari and Davis use their digivice to go to the digiworld. In the digiworld, they are walking in the forest when they pass a vending machine when suddenly Numemon came out. They meet up with Tai and they go back to the cave. Everyone tries to lift the egg but only Davis can remove it, and when he does, Veemon suddenly appears. The emperor sends out a Monochromon to attack and the kids run outside. Kari twists her ankle and when Monochromon goes after her, Davis uses the digiegg of courage. Veemon amor digivolve to Flamedramon and fights Monochromon. He breaks the black ring restoring Monochromon back to his usual self. The kids then return to the real world.
